India's domestic aviation market recovers in June

Airlines in India carried 3.1 million domestic passengers last month, up 47.2% month-on-month from 2.1 million in May, figures from the country's Directorate General of Civil Aviation show. Read More » The June numbers also represented a 56.9% improvement from the two million domestic passengers transported by local carriers in June 2020. LCC IndiGo had the largest share of the market for the month, at 54.7%, representing 1.7 million passengers carried. In second place was state-owned Air India (16.5% or 514,000 passengers), followed by SpiceJet (9% or 281,000 passengers).
