IATA survey reveals 86% of passengers felt safe on board a flight due to COVID-19 measures

More than eight in 10 people who have travelled in the past year said they felt safe on board an aircraft, figures from an International Air Transport Association (IATA) survey show. Read More » The poll of 4,700 travellers, who have flown since June 2020, found 86% of those surveyed felt safe due to COVID-19 measures introduced to fight the pandemic. Eighty nine per cent of the survey's respondents believed protective measures were well implemented and 90% said airline staff did a good job enforcing rules. Also, 83% of the passengers polled supported mask wearing onboard. “Air travelers recognize and value the safety measures put in place to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission during air travel," IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said. "And they support the continuation of these measures as long as necessary, but they don’t want the measures to be permanent." The survey was conducted with Rockland Dutton between May 14 and May 22.
