AirAsia Indonesia extends suspension of entire network

AirAsia Indonesia has extended the suspension of all scheduled passenger flights until September 6 "in view of the current COVID-19 situation in Indonesia" and to support the government's containment efforts. Read More » While scheduled passenger flights remain grounded, AirAsia Indonesia said chartered and cargo flights would continue to operate to support the repatriation of travellers, shipment of goods and other essential purposes. The airline grounded all flights on July 5 for one month. Passengers holding tickets for flights cancelled can rebook their journeys or receive a credit or a refund. Indonesia recently extended its public restrictive order (PPKM) that forces some shops to close and individuals employed in non-essential sectors to work from home, among other measures. Indonesia recorded 35,764 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, down from a peak of 56,757 cases on July 15, according to World Health Organisation figures.
