China Airlines announces US$49 million interim loss

Taiwan's China Airlines (CAL) has reported a net loss of TW$1.36 billion (US$49 million) for the six months to June 30, a slight increase from a TW$1.31 billion net loss recorded in the same six months last year. Read More » Operating revenue declined 2.8%, to TW$57.2 billion, CAL said in a regulatory filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange. In other CAL news, the airline's board has approved a capital increase for Tigerair Taiwan, with details to be announced at a later date. Still in Taiwan, EVA Air reported a net loss of TW$2.1 billion for the first half of calendar 2021 compared with a net loss of TW$1.8 billion in the corresponding half a year ago. Operating revenue was 11.5% lower, at TW$43.8 billion.
