Cathay Pacific maintains 30% capacity target

Read More » The airline's monthly traffic report for July showed it operated 7.1% of its pre-pandemic passenger capacity for the month with its capacity down 3% month-on-month. There was some improvement in demand for the reported period after passengers flown rose 33.1% to 54,092, from 40,651 in June. However, the July figure was 98.4% below the 3.3 million passengers flown in the pre-pandemic times of July 2019. “We hope to operate approximately 30% of our pre-COVID-19 passenger capacity by the fourth quarter of 2021," Lam said. "However, this is highly dependent upon operational and customer travel restrictions being relaxed. As governments around the world have said, this only will be possible when sufficiently high vaccination rates are achieved." Cathay Pacific still faced "many challenges" to both its passenger and cargo businesses as the COVID-19 situation in different parts of the world continued to evolve, Lam said.
