SITA health hub technology to integrate different travel passes

SITA president for the Asia-Pacific, Sumesh Patel, said the air travel technology company was working on solutions that would act as a bridge for the different health passes and digital products being rolled out by governments and airlines to facilitate travel amid the pandemic. Read More » "We are trying to build a SITA Health Hub, which can ensure all these health pass schemes can work together and also with all the national and regional digital certificates required by governments," Patel told reporters in an online briefing yesterday. "It can integrate all the health pass schemes plus the requirements from the government into one hub so passengers don't need to download five different applications on their phones when travelling from one country to another." Patel noted figures from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed passenger processing times at airports had ballooned to an average of five hours due to the additional requirements introduced in response to COVID-19. At some airports, the check-in and immigration processes are taking up to eight hours compared with 90 minutes on average before the outbreak of the pandemic.
