Singapore Airlines launches "upcycling" project

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will donate old parts and materials from retired aircraft to educational institutions, local artists and disability support agencies as part of its new "The Upcycling Project". Read More » Universities can use the parts as learning materials for art or design courses, while the materials also can be used for the work of artists, the airline said. SIA is working with disability support services to give people the opportunity to make gifts or products for sale with proceeds going directly to the makers. “The Upcycling Project is a unique opportunity to repurpose parts and materials from older retired aircraft and find a new use for them," SIA senior vice president for customer experience, Yeoh Phee Teik, said. “There was a lot of interest when we first broached the concept and we are happy to be able to support a wide range of communities with this initiative."
