Japan Airlines seeking US$2.7 billion in capital raising

Japan Airlines (JAL) said it will raise 300 billion yen (US$2.7 billion) to support the business amid the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read More » The company said in a regulatory filing to the Tokyo Stock Exchange yesterday the funds would strengthen its financial base and support efforts to achieve growth targets outlined in its 2021-2025 medium-term management plan. The statement, issued in response to media reports, said the funds will be raised through hybrid financing with details to be released later today. Last month, JAL reported a 57.9 billion yen net loss for the three months to June 30, an improvement from a 93.7 billion yen net loss in the same months in 2020.
