India’s domestic airlines carried 6.7 million (67 lakh) passengers in August, a hefty 136.6% increase over the same month in 2020. Read More » Figures released by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation also show year-to-date passenger numbers 14.8% ahead of the same period in 2020, at 46 million. Airlines filled more seats in August with Spicejet leading the pack with a load factor of 79.6%. IndiGo (74%), Vistara (71.3%), Star Air (70.4%) and Air India (68.4%) made up the remainder of the top five carriers in this category. Overall cancellations for August were low at 1.2% with weather the major cause.
