IATA lauds Gulf carrier’s application of its Travel Pass across six continents
September 24th 2021
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has applauded a move by Emirates Airline to be the first carrier to implement the association’s Travel Pass on six continents. Read More » The Dubai-based airline initially tested the pass in April, expanded it to 12 routes in June and now will apply it across its global network. For now, it is available to 50 cities, but will be rolled out to more than 120 destinations by October. IATA senior vice president operations, safety and security, Nick Careen, said the Emirates initiative cemented the role of the Travel Pass as a key tool in managing “the complex myriad of health credentials required for travel”. “By providing passengers with a one-stop shop to demystify, manage and process these credentials through a secure automated process, they can arrive at the airport ready to fly by using automated processes,’’ Careen said. “This will avoid queuing and congestion for document checks for the benefit of travelers, airlines, airports and governments.” The Travel Pass allows passengers to manage their documentation digitally while accessing at departure more than 1500 certified COVID-19 testing centres that meet health requirements at their destination.
