Is the COMAC C919 headed for a year-end delivery?

The long-awaited delivery to China Eastern Airlines (CEA) of the COMAC C919 airliner may be just around the corner. Read More » Aviation Week reports the first deliverable Chinese-made narrow-body jet is entering the final assembly process at COMAC’s Shanghai factory with an aim of year-end delivery. It cited the Eastern China division of the Civil Aviation Administration of China as saying the manufacturing plan and overall testing regime for the C919 was audited before the jet entered final assembly. The plane is scheduled to enter service in the first half of 2022. CEA signed a contract for five C919s in March 2021. At the time, it had preliminary plans to use the plane on routes from Shanghai to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xiamen, Wuhan and Qingdao. The aircraft made its maiden test flight in May 2017, but its entry into service has been delayed by technical issues.
