Cathay Pacific Airways pilots denied Hong Kong work visas

Dozens of Cathay Pacific Airways pilots have been terminated after Hong Kong immigration officials denied them visas to relocate to the airline’s home port, according to the South China Morning Post. Read More » The newspaper said several dozen Cathay pilots had sought to move from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Germany after the airline shut foreign bases. The airline confirmed it had been informed of the rejections by the Immigration Department but said many were eligible for enhanced termination benefits. According to the newspaper, no new work visas have been issued to foreign pilots since the closure of Cathay Dragon last year created a large pool of unemployed flight crew.
