Adult travellers wanting to fly AirAsia Malaysia as it resumes services after the nightmare of COVID-19 will need to be fully vaccinated. Read More » The airline announced the requirement on Wednesday, effective immediately, as part of its COVID-19 mitigation plan. Passengers under the age of 18 who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent or guardian to be allowed to fly with the carrier. The LCC also has mandated that all passengers must check-in for its flights with its Super App. This requirement will allow guests to pass through the airport clearance and boarding processes with an e-boarding pass, significantly reducing physical interaction and the use of paper, it said. Fees will apply for people using a check-in counter unless they have mobility issues, are travelling with an infant under two years of age or are a youngster travelling alone. The Super App should be downloaded before travel, the airline said, but noted it should be the only app they need for their journey. It is designed to handle flight and hotel bookings, check-in and health document verification to boarding with e-boarding pass, FACES facial recognition and inflight services. AirAsia Malaysia CEO, Riad Asmat, said the airline’s seamless self-check-in process was designed to minimise queuing, possible physical contact at counters and crowding at the airport. “The decision to accept only fully vaccinated guests for boarding is made in the best safety interest of our guests and employees,’’ he said. “All our flights are operated by fully vaccinated pilots and cabin crew and this applies to all our ground services as well. We also have put in place numerous service enhancements and integration via the airasia Super App.” Passengers must wear masks before, during and after flights.
