U.S. confirms reopening border to China and India from November 8

Airlines have welcomed confirmation by the U.S. government that it will reopen its borders to vaccinated travellers from 33 countries, including China and India, from November 8. U.S. authorities also have told media AstraZeneca and Chinese vaccines, Sinovac and Sinopharm, have been added the list of those acceptable for U.S. travel. Airlines for America (A4A) chief executive, Nicholas E. Calio, said there had been a spike in ticket sales for international travel to and from the U.S. in recent weeks. “The full reopening of international travel is critical to reviving economies around the globe, reinvigorating communities and supporting millions of jobs in the U.S. and abroad,’’ Calio said. “We have seen an increase in ticket sales for international travel over the past weeks and are eager to begin safely reuniting the countless families, friends and colleagues who have not seen each other in nearly two years, if not longer.”
