China Southern Airlines books US$4.7 billion annual loss

China Southern Airlines (CSA) has reported a net loss of 32.7 billion yuan (US$4.7 billion) for fiscal 2022 compared with a net loss of 12.1 billion yuan in the year-ago period. Read More » Operating revenue declined 14.3%, to 87.1 billion yuan, CSA said in a regulatory filing. Operating expenses were down 0.9%, to 115.3 billion yuan, it added. CSA will “seize the opportunity of market recovery to pursue better operating results” in 2023. “We will build the Beijing hub with high quality, improve the domestic network, restore and open new international and regional routes and strengthen the management of medium and high-value customers,” China’s biggest airline said.
