Vietnam plans for 267 million passengers a year by 2030

Vietnam is forecasting an annual passenger throughput of 267.5 million passengers by 2030 with cargo passing through airports to hit 4.1 million tonnes. Read More » The figures are contained in an outline of a Ministry of Transport action plan posted by the Civil Aviation of Administration of Vietnam (CAAV). The action plan defines the main tasks and objectives for road, maritime operations, inland waterways and aviation from this year to 2026.

Vietnam’s aviation sector must provide a master plan for the development of the national airport and airport system to 2030 with a vision to 2050. The government also has specified the industry must mobilise social resources to invest in aviation infrastructure, a review of regulations that promote a flexible response to epidemics, a healthy competitive environment for airlines and encouragement ‘‘low-cost, good service to meet the increasing requirements of society”. Priority projects in the 2021-2026 timeframe include the construction of phase one of Long Thanh International Airport and of Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport as well as the expansion of Terminal 2 at Noi Bai International Airport.
