Emirates Airline to hire 6,000 staff

The easing of COVID restrictions worldwide and an unexpected surge in consumer demand has resulted in Emirates Airline aiming to recruit an additional 6,000 operational staff in the next six months. Read More » The Dubai-based carrier is looking to hire more pilots, cabin crew, engineering specialists and ground staff to support a ramp-up of global operations in response to a sooner than expected surge in customer demand. In September, Emirates announced it was recruiting 3,000 cabin crew and 500 airport services employees at its Dubai hub. It now has said it needs an additional 700 ground staff in Dubai and across its network. It also is looking to employ 600 qualified pilots interested in joining its flight operations team in Dubai and 1,250 aircraft engineers and engineering support staff to reinforce its maintenance operations. The world’s biggest international airline has restored 90% of its network and is on track to reach 70% of pre-pandemic capacity year-end. It is supplementing its flight schedules with increased frequencies to meet pent-up demand. It also has deployed its popular A380s on scheduled services, a decision that will add 165,000 seats to its capacity by November. “Our requirement for 6,000 additional operational staff signifies the quick recovery Dubai’s economy is witnessing and will lead to opportunities and other positive developments across various other businesses, including those in the consumer, travel and tourism sectors,’’ said Emirates Airline chief executive, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Emirates is the world’s largest operator of 777s and A380s. It has a fleet of 263 wide-body aircraft and has ordered A350s, 787-9s and Boeing’s new 777-X to meet future demand.
