Boeing said the 777-9 will be the world’s biggest and most efficient twin jet when it enters service, delivering 10% better fuel use, emissions and operating costs than its competition. However, delays in the program have irritated Emirates, which has 126 777X jets on order. Last month, the airline warned Boeing the problems would cause significant disruption to its operations. Emirates chairman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, confirmed to Reuters this week the delays will be discussed “before and during the airshow”. Appearing at the airshow alongside the 777-9 will be the 2021 Boeing ecoDemonstrator, an Alaska Airlines 737-9 flight that is testing some 20 technologies aimed at reducing fuel use, cutting emissions and improving safety. Etihad Airways will display a 787-10 Dreamliner used this year to advance sustainable aviation. The airshow will be held from November 14 to November 18.
