Virtual interiors with sharks swimming above the cabin ceiling and a private sundeck are some of the super yacht style features the rich and famous could enjoy in their long-haul A330 private jets. Read More » The novel concept was unveiled by Lufthansa Technik ahead of next week’s Dubai Airshow and allows the well-heeled to install wine cellars, take the Lamborghini with them or turn their jet into a disco party venue. A ceiling projection system from Diehl Aerospace allows scenes ranging from cloudscapes to coral reefs to be spread across the upper half of the cabin. “We created a unique interior to exploit the full potential of the projection system for private jets. The overall look of a VIP cabin can be changed by a fingertip,” said aircraft interior architect Michael Bork. The piece de resistance of the design prototype is a spectacular open air seating area about four metres above the tarmac using a retrofitted main cargo deck hatch. This includes a platform that can be extended several metres to accommodate a small table and chairs with, of course, the appropriate vintage of Dom Perignon. Lufthansa Technik said the design is inspired by super yachts. "In yacht building, multifunctional exploration vessels have become a class in their own right. And many owners of such vessels also call an aircraft their own," said head of sales VIP & Special Mission Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik, Wieland Timm. "For this fast-growing target group of VIP world explorers, we have therefore created a flying platform for the first time.”
