Japan’s ZIPAIR celebrates Christmas with new flights to Los Angeles

LCC ZIPAIR Tokyo will launch three flights per week between Tokyo Narita and Los Angeles International Airport next month to become the first Japanese budget carrier to operate services to the U.S mainland. Read More » The Japan Airlines (JAL) subsidiary will fly 787-8s on the route with fares starting at ¥27,500 (US$235) one-way. It also has indicated it could add destinations to the U.S. West Coast. ZIPAIR president, Shingo Nishid,a said establishing flights across the Pacific had been a key goal of the airline since its launch. “Our mission is to define a new standard in the air travel industry by offering a unique low-cost business model on long-haul international routes,’’ he said. “ZIPAIR features a NEW BASIC travel experience by offering personalized services during the flight, which will essentially shorten the sense of time. We are eager to welcome travelers in the U.S. to personally experience this truly new concept in air travel." ZIPAIR already offers flights between Narita and Honolulu. Other routes include Tokyo to Seoul and recently launched Tokyo-Singapore.
