Read More » The engine, built at the manufacturer’s UK facility in Derby, entered service in 2015 and has become the fastest selling large engine type of all time. Rolls-Royce said the engine had achieved more than eight million flying hours in service with more than 30 airlines on a variety of routes and stage lengths. It offers a 15% fuel advantage over the first Trent engines and is ready to operate on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The manufacturer estimates the type has avoided more than 10 million tonnes of CO2 since its launch or the same amount of CO2 taken to provide electricity to almost two million homes each year. It also consistently achieves a dispatch reliability of more than 99.9%. “Reaching this milestone is another great achievement for the Trent XWB-84, which is the most efficient aero engine in service,’’ said Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace president, Chris Cholerton. “It is important to our customers to build ever more efficient fleets and new generation engines, like the Trent XWB-84 allow them to achieve this.”
