Read More » The 2.6% reduction in carbon emissions by accredited Asia-Pacific airports was part of a wider global CO2 reduction of 347,718 tonnes, or 5.5%, by 362 airports, reports Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific. Despite the hardships imposed by the pandemic, 67 new airports joined the global effort to mitigate carbon emissions under the Airport Carbon Accreditation Scheme. In the Asia-Pacific, these included Duqm Airport, Phuket International Airport, Hamilton Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport. “Airports in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East are working hard to reduce emissions under their control, achieving tangible CO2 reductions even in the thick of the COVID-19 crisis,” ACI Asia-Pacific director-general, Stefano Baronci, said. “The latter has had a devastating impact on almost all aspects of airport activity. It is therefore with great pride I welcome the continued ambition and indeed results of airports’ collective climate effort.”
