oneworld alliance members to buy 350 million gallons of sustainable fuel

oneworld alliance members intend to purchase more than 350 million gallons of blended sustainable aviation fuel from renewable fuels company, Aemetis, for their operations at San Francisco International Airport. Read More » A finalised agreement will see the aviation fuel delivered over seven years from 2024 to the alliance members, which include Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Qantas Airways, using the airport. The blendable sustainable aviation fuel is 40% sustainable aviation fuel and 60% petroleum jet fuel produced to meet international blended sustainable aviation fuel standards. The announcement follows a joint request for proposals by oneworld members airlines to fuel suppliers and marks the first such announcement by a global airline alliance. oneworld also has committed to net-zero-emissions by 2050 and a target of 10% sustainable aviation fuel use across the alliance by 2030.
