Read More » The first A330-200 will start its conversion, which involves removing the seats, replacing an existing cabin door with a larger one and installing a cargo handling system, in August 2022 and will be flying by mid-2023. The aircraft will join a dedicated fleet servicing Qantas's contract to fly mail and parcels domestically for Australia Post. The second A330-200 will begin freighter operations in late 2023 as part of the Qantas Freight's international operations. The conversion will be undertaken by EFW, a joint venture between Airbus and ST Engineering. "Our freight business has boomed during the pandemic and while some of that is temporary, COVID has accelerated the permanent expansion of eCommerce and online shopping in this country,” Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce, said.
