Read More » Valued at US$3.7 billion at list prices, the order will allow 777 Partners to expand 737 MAX operations across its affiliated global LCC network. The new order came as Bonza said it planned to operate up to eight of the fuel efficient jets in Australia in its first 12 months of operation. Bonza is leasing the jets from 777 Partners. It is expected to announce initial destinations and aircraft bases in coming weeks. The start-up will target routes underserved or not covered by other airlines at fares reported to be difficult for rivals to match. The ULCC will enter a competitive market as Qantas Group, Virgin Australia and Rex are expanding their networks. Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce, told an industry conference on Tuesday the group will defend its turf and and added Qantas doubted the viability of serving routes not covered by existing carriers.
