Both Etihad Airways and Qantas Airways are declaring they have launched the world’s first green loyalty program. Read More » Etihad made the claim yesterday despite a Qantas Group announcement of a similar program last month. Both programs reward loyalty members for making “green” choices such as offsetting flights or making environmentally friendly choices in their everyday lives. But he said elements of the Etihad program were already up and running. “For example, if you offset your flight now, purchase sustainable products from the reward shop or donate miles now, you will be rewarded with Tier Miles when the programme fully rolls out in early January,’’ he told Orient Aviation. “Our program will be fully up and running by Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in early January, which we believe will be the world’s first to be fully rolled out.”
