IATA signs agreement with Indonesia National Air Carriers Association

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said the Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA) will promote IATA's Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) among its membership as part of an agreement between the two associations. Read More » “We are excited to work with IATA to promote the ISSA program to enhance aviation safety in Indonesia,” INACA secretary general, Bayu Sutanto, said. IATA said ISSA was a voluntary safety audit program aimed primarily at airlines with aircraft that have a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) below the 5,700kg threshold for participation in the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). The airline lobby group has signed a similar agreement with the Alaska Air Carriers Association (AACA). “We look forward to working with AACA and INACA to help ensure eligible operators have a robust safety infrastructure in place, validated by an operational safety evaluation," IATA director of safety, Mark Searle, said. “Our experience with IOSA confirms globally harmonised safety assessments deliver tangible and measurable improvements in industry safety.”
