MAVCOM predicts growth for Malaysia’s domestic market

Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) executive chairman, Datuk Seri Hj. Saripuddin Hj. Kasim, said there were encouraging signs of recovery within the country's domestic market despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Read More » The commission’s latest report said airlines submitted 28 applications for air traffic rights in the three months to December 31, an increase of 33.3% over applications in the three months to September 30. There were 17 applications for domestic routes, up from seven in the previous quarter as interstate borders reopened and demand for holiday related travel grew. "This promising development illustrates the sector’s resilience and its ability to bounce back post-pandemic," Kasim said. "We hope this continues. Air travellers are highly encouraged to pre-plan their flights for festive periods well in advance to avoid crowds and high ticket prices."
