“Stellar year” for air cargo: IATA report

"Demand for goods made in the region was nevertheless strong, including for PPE in November and December." Global CTKs were up 8.9% in December compared with two years earlier, while ACTKs were 4.7% lower. IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said air cargo had a "stellar year" in 2021, providing a vital source of revenue as passenger demand remained depressed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. "Growth opportunities however were lost due to the pressures of labour shortages and constraints across the logistics system," Walsh said. "Overall, economic conditions do point to a strong 2022."
