Australia’s February domestic air fares up to 25% lower than a year ago

Australia's domestic airfares remained well below year ago levels in February, reports the country's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE). Read More » The measure of business class fares was at 55.6 index points in February, 20.3% below the 69.8 points in the same month in 2021. Similarly, restricted economy was down 25%, at 73.7 points, from 98.6 points, and the best discount economy index was 7.9% lower at 57 points compared with 61.9 points. The BITRE air fare series is a price index of the lowest available fare in each fare class, weighted over selected routes.
