Qantas to base four E190s in Darwin; extend London services to June

Qantas said four Embraer E190 regional jets flown on behalf of the airline's regional wing, QantasLink, by Alliance Aviation Services, will be based in Darwin. Read More » The regional jets, equipped with 10 business and 84 economy seats, will allow the Australian carrier to add frequency on existing routes and commence flying new routes. “The E190 is a fantastic aircraft and the new routes and frequencies they have supported means Darwin is better positioned to take advantage of the comeback of domestic tourism and business travel,” Qantas group CEO, Alan Joyce, said. In other Qantas news, the airline will continue to operate flights from Melbourne and Sydney to London Heathrow via Darwin until "at least" June 2022, given the West Australian government is yet to reveal when the state will reopen to international travellers and what the testing requirements will be for passengers transiting through Singapore.
