Start-up Bonza announces first two bases

Australian start-up LCC, Bonza, has announced Melbourne and Queensland’s Sunshine Coast as its first two local bases. Read More » It also has released an initial domestic network of 25 routes to 16 destinations focused mainly on city-pairs either without an LCC offering or a nonstop air service. “Since announcing Bonza to the world late last year, we always have said we will not just fly between Australia’s three largest cities but instead give people in the regions more choice," Bonza CEO, Tim Jordan, said. “From our two bases on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and in Melbourne, we will give Aussies more options at ultra-low fares to explore their own backyard.” The airline, which plans to begin operations later in 2022 with an initial fleet of five 737 MAXs, said 96% of its inaugural 25 routes will have LCC service for the first time, while 80% [of them]were unserved. Bonza, funded by U.S.-based investment firm, 777 Partners, said its head office will be on the Sunshine Coast.
