Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways deepen cooperation

Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) and Qatar Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand their existing partnership to more codeshare flights and cooperation in air cargo, operations and commercial services. This close cooperation with Malaysia Airlines is a firm example of how symbiotic international partnerships can pave the way to industry recovery," Qatar Airways Group CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said. MAB Group CEO, Captain Izham Ismail, said the MoU is an important part of the airline's long-term business plan. "This partnership will provide better efficiencies and a more comprehensive network for our passengers while we further boost the growth of traffic flow via Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which will serve as a primary gateway to Malaysia’s domestic and selected Southeast Asian destinations." The two oneworld alliance members began code-sharing in 2004 and now operate a code-share network of 62 destinations.
