Read More » Today, February 28, the nation has opened its border to vaccinated New Zealanders in Australia and will allow them to self-isolate rather than enter managed quarantine. New Zealanders living anywhere in the world will have the same option from March 13. “While the isolation requirement will restrict demand to those with the time and ability to self-isolate, it will come as a huge relief for families divided during times of celebration or grief or for those who simply want to return to their homeland," Hurihanganui said. “As we look to the rest of the year, we expect international travel numbers to remain low with overseas experience showing self-isolation requirements for vaccinated travellers seriously dent demand. We continue to work with airlines to ensure this does not negatively impact Auckland Airport’s future international network connections," she said. Auckland Airport reported net profit increased 274%, to NZ$108.8 million (US$73.4 million), in the six months to December 31. The result was impacted by a NZ$132 million non-cash investment property valuation increase. On an underlying basis, the company reported a net loss of NZ$11.5 million for the half, from a NZ$9.5 million net loss in the previous corresponding half.
