Finnair suspends five destinations in Asia until March 6

Finnair has cancelled passenger and/or cargo routes to five cities in the Asia-Pacific for a week and rerouted four other services operating to the region to avoid Russian Federation airspace in response to the invasion of Ukraine. Read More » The Helsinki-headquartered carrier suspended flights to Guangzhou, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo from yesterday to March 6. The oneworld alliance member has maintained passenger and/or cargo service to Bangkok, Delhi, Phuket and Singapore, but flight times have been extended by about an hour in order to fly around Russian airspace. "The decision on Russian airspace usage after March 6 will be made later as the possible regulatory changes clarify," Finnair said. Affected passengers will be contacted directly. Schedule changes at other carriers include Singapore Airlines suspending nonstop Singapore-Moscow until further notice and British Airways, Lufthansa, Qantas Airways and Virgin Atlantic, among other long-haul carriers, avoiding Russian airspace on their routes into Asia.
