Tata Sons will recommence its search for a CEO to run Air India after the chosen candidate had a change of heart. Read More » Former Turkish Airlines chairman, Ilker Ayci, decided not to take up the position two weeks after Tata Sons announced his appointment, local media has reported citing comments from a Tata Sons spokesperson. In a separate statement, Ayci said he decided not to accept the role because of political sensitivities, according to media reports. He was due to begin as Air India CEO and managing director on April 1. In the final quarter of 2021, Tata Sons submitted the winning bid for the purchase of Air India from the Indian government.
