ANA HOLDINGS INC. said its new airline, AirJapan, which will target medium-haul international routes, will commence commercial flights in the second half of next year. Read More » The launch date of AirJapan is later than the fiscal 2022 timeframe put forward when the ANA parent unveiled plans in October 2022 to establish a third airline brand, alongside All Nippon Airways and Peach. At that announcement, the company said its AirJapan subsidiary would be used "as the foundation" for the new airline that would fly 787s with more than 300 seats in a two-class configuration. "We are excited to begin unveiling AirJapan and the selectable service and comfortable cabin experience it will offer passengers," AirJapan president, Hideki Mineguchi, said. "By focusing on medium-haul international routes, the ANA group will be better equipped to meet emerging trends for international travel at a competitive price. We are proud to be part of the team that is increasing options for travellers while bringing the same commitment to quality and safety found across the ANA group." Routes and specific dates for the scheduled first flight are still under consideration, with the company "closely monitoring trends in the recovery of demand for international flights".
