Airbus increases commercial airline forecast for India and South Asia

Airbus expects India and South Asia to need 2,210 new commercial aircraft in the next two decades, local media has reported, citing comments from the air framer's head of airline marketing for India and South Asia, Brent McBratney, at Wings India 2022. Read More » Of the revised forecast demand for 2,210 airplanes 1,770 will be narrow-bodies and the remaining 440 wide-bodies, Airbus predicts. The updated forecast was higher than Airbus's previous projection for the region of 1,900 aircraft to 2040. The OEM estimates cockpit crew and on ground technical staff required to fly and maintain the region’s enlarged fleet will be about 34,000 more pilots and 45,000 more technicians in the next two decades.
