Air China domestic passenger numbers tumble in March

Air China carried 2.2 million passengers on its domestic network in March, down 70.5% from 7.5 million passengers in the same month in 2021, a reaction to new government restrictions imposed in China to contain fresh outbreaks of COVID-19. Read More » The March result also was 48.7% lower, month-on-month, than the 4.3 million passengers Air China flew in February. Domestic passenger load factor for the 31 days was 61.1%, Air China said in its monthly traffic report, compared with 73.5% in March 2021 and 66.3%, in February. The Star Alliance member added an A320neo, two A321neo and one A350-900 to its operations in the month and retired an A330-200 from service. At March 31, Air China's fleet numbered 751 aircraft up from 746 at the end of February.
