Cathay Pacific and Dragonair Announce Management Changes

Dane Cheng will replace Rupert Hogg as Director Sales & Marketing. Cheng who has joined Cathay as a management trainee in 1986 has held numerous managerial positions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Japan and Australia. Read More » His current position is General Manager, China. Rupert Hogg has been appointed as the airline’s Chief Operating Officer.
James Ginns will replace Philippe de Gentile-Williams as Director Service Delivery. Ginns has held key positions within Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, France, Indonesia, Singapore and Japan. His current position is General Manager Inflight Services. Philippe de Gentile-Williams will take up a senior management position at Swire Properties.
James Tong will replace Chitty Cheung as Director Corporate Affairs. Tong has joined Cathay Pacific in 1987 and has held several senior positions in Cathay Pacific, Dragonair and Air Hong Kong. His current position is General Manager Revenue Management. Chitty Cheung, who is married to Hong Kong public figure Robert Chow Yung, is looking to leave the airline and PR/corporate communications industry and start afresh while she is “still young enough to do so”.
Algernon Yau will replace Patrick Yeung as CEO of Dragonair. Yau started his aviation career with Cathay Pacific in 1982 before joining Dragonair in 1994. He has held the positions of General Manager Ground Services and General Manager International Affairs for Dragonair before becoming General Manager of Hong Kong International Airport and eventually CEO of Cathay Pacific Services Ltd. Current Dragonair CEO Patrick Yeung will become the Group’s General Manager Taiwan & Korea, overseeing the business and operations of both Cathay Pacific and Dragonair there.
