Boeing announces US$1.2 billion net loss, confirms 777-9X first delivery delayed to 2025

Boeing has reported a US$1.2 billion net loss for the three months to March 31, against a net loss of US$561 million in the same months in 2021. "While the first quarter of 2022 brought new challenges for our world, industry and business, I am proud of our team and the steady progress we are making toward our key commitments," Boeing CEO, Dave Calhoun, said. Boeing said the 737 production rate is expected to increase to 31 aircraft a month during the current quarter, to June 30, and added it had submitted its 787 certification plan to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The air framer also confirmed first delivery of its 777-9X wide-body had been pushed back to 2025, from 2024 previously. The new delivery date for the wide-body aircraft reflected an "updated assessment of the time required to meet certification requirements", the OEM said.
