China Eastern Airlines (CEA) chair, Liu Shaoyong, said the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and high commodity prices mean the external environment had become more complex and severe. Read More » "With the ongoing epidemic, the global economy lacks momentum for recovery," Liu wrote in CEA's annual report. "As the level of economic recovery among countries around the world varies, the development of the aviation industry faces various degrees of uncertainty." These included potential new variants of COVID-19, the impact of "geopolitical influences" and the influence the pandemic has on consumer spending,” he wrote. The market showed a "slow recovery trend", CEA said.
