Delta Air Lines and Australia's Regional Express (Rex) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) that enters the two carriers into a definitive joint commercial agreement covering reciprocal interline ticketing and baggage services. Read More » The partnership is planned to commence in the third quarter of this year, Rex said. “This is a milestone moment for Rex and our passengers," Rex’s deputy chairman, John Sharp, said. “Delta will not only connect international travellers onto Rex’s trunk domestic routes,” he said. The agreement “also will provide the U.S. airline with easy access to Rex’s expansive network of more than 60 regional Australia routes”, Sharp added. Delta Air Lines vice president for alliance partner development, Jeff Arinder, said the LoI will introduce more connectivity and geographic reach to both airlines. “We look forward to welcoming more customers aboard our flights from Sydney to the U.S., providing them with a world class customer experience in the air and on the ground," he said. Virgin Australia (VA) was Delta's partner in Australia until VA switched to United Airlines in December 2021.
