Thai Airways International narrows losses in March quarter

Thai Airways International (THAI) has reported a net loss of 3.2 billion baht (US$94.1 million) for the three months to March 31, an improvement from a net loss of 12.2 billion baht in the same months in 2021. Operating costs increased by 26.1%, to 14.3 billion baht. “In the first quarter of 2022, THAI restored normal operations and provided a full service on international routes to support the opening of the country on November 1, 2021. THAI has resumed services to 36 destinations covering Asia, Europe and Australia,” the airline said. The flag carrier will operate passenger flights on 34 routes in its northern hemisphere summer schedule to meet increasing travel demand. The Star Alliance member also will introduce three new 777-300ERs to its operating fleet in coming months to increase passenger capacity.
