Singapore to begin construction of Changi Airport Terminal 5 in two to three years

Singapore Minister for Transport, S Iswaran, has told delegates at an aviation conference in Singapore that construction of Changi Airport's Terminal 5 will commence in two to three years and be ready for operations by the mid-2030s. Read More » The Terminal 5 project was paused in March 2020 after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Singapore Changi airport processed 1.9 million passengers in April, up 69.3% from 1.1 million passengers accommodated at the airport hub in March and significantly higher than the 173,000 air travellers handled through the Changi terminals in April 2021. Compared with pre-COVID-19 levels, the April 2022 figure was 65.4% below the 5.6 million airline passengers processed through the airport in April 2019.
