Turboprop manufacturer, ATR, is planning to have a new generation of its regional aircraft operating by 2030. The project, ATR EVO, is aiming to have new engines powering the aircraft that will be 100% compatible with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), achieve a 20% improvement in fuel consumption and maintenance costs compared with in-production aircraft and double-digit operational cost savings. “This means airlines can serve thin routes more profitably and communities can benefit from more connectivity, more essential services and more economic development,” ATR senior vice president for commercial, Fabrice Vautier, said. “Our aim is to continue to offer customers and society ever more inclusive and responsible air transportation." ATR senior vice president for engineering, Stéphane Viala, said the air framer has issued a request for information to the main engine manufacturers for the development of the new power plant. ATR aims to launch the program in 2023.
