Air New Zealand reports 27.7% jump in domestic passengers in April

Air New Zealand (AirNZ) flew 654,000 passengers on its domestic network in April, up 27.7% from 512,000 passengers carried in March. Read More » Despite the strong month-on-month growth, the April figure was 19.3% below the 811,000 domestic passengers transported in the same month in 2021. AirNZ's monthly traffic report said the airline carried 146,000 passengers on Tasman and Pacific Island flights in the reported month, close to triple the 51,000 passengers transported in April 2021 and 58.7% higher than the 92,000 passengers carried in March 2021. In pre-COVID-19 April 2019, the Star Alliance member flew 941,000 passengers on domestic flights and 315,000 passengers on its trans-Tasman and Pacific Islands services. Last month, the airline reported its domestic and international bookings had good momentum.
