Australian domestic air passenger numbers jump more than 30% in April

Australian airlines flew 4.7 million passengers on domestic services in April, an increase of 31.9% over 3.5 million in-country air travellers carried in the same month in 2021. Compared with pre-COVID-19 levels, the April numbers were 9.6% below the 5.2 million domestic passengers recorded in April 2019 and capacity was 7.3% lower than April 2019. Passenger load factor was 78.4% in April 2022, compared with 72.7% in March and 80.3% in April two years ago.
