Qantas Airways launches non-stop Perth-Rome

On Wednesday, Qantas Airways 787-9 VH-ZNF took off from Perth for Rome, the first scheduled nonstop flight between Australia and Continental Europe. Read More » The inaugural QF 5 from the West Australian capital and reciprocal QF 6 from Rome were “points plane” flights. All 236 seats on the aircraft - 42 business, 28 premium economy and 166 economy - were bookable with frequent flyer points. The oneworld alliance member has scheduled three flights a week on the route, which will operate as a seasonal service until October 6. Western Australia’s premier, Mark McGowan, will join Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce, on QF 5 to Rome on Saturday. “The direct service between Perth and Rome will create many new opportunities between Western Australia and Continental Europe, including a huge boost for our tourism industry that will further diversify the economy and support jobs, investment and business opportunities,” McGowan said.
