Air New Zealand unveils sleeping pods and mini-cabin premium seats in interiors revamp

Air New Zealand (AirNZ) has launched a world first economy class product that offers passengers booked four-hour sessions in bunk style sleeping pods. Read More » Skynest is part of a suite of cabin products the airline announced yesterday. Air NZ also is offering customers the option of a “luxe” mini-cabin business class seat fitted with privacy doors and space for dining for two. Its premium economy and economy seats also have been refreshed. Air NZ CEO, Greg Foran, said the new products are a “cabin of possibility”. They will first appear on the Star Alliance member's eight new 787-9s, arriving from 2024, and in the 14 in-service 787-9s that will be retrofitted with the upgraded cabins. “We wanted to offer our economy customers a lie-flat option. This was how Skynest was born. It will be a game changer for the economy travel experience,” Foran said. Air NZ chief customer and sales officer, Leanne Geraghty said: “Our new cabin experience is set to be world class. We know our customers will love it.”
